Alumni Update: Carley Markovitz '10

September 27, 2021

Carley Markovitz graduated from Dartmouth in 2010, where she received her B.A. in Government with a double-minor in Spanish and Environmental Studies. While taking fantastic courses with Government professors Lisa Baldez and John Carey, Carley focused on Latin American policy and politics and spent her junior fall living in Buenos Aires studying international trade. After graduation, Carley returned to Argentina and spent several months working for the Foundation for Sustainable Development, where she became interested in the intersection between urban planning and climate change.

Alumni Update: Elizabeth King '13

September 26, 2021

Elizabeth King graduated from Dartmouth College in 2013 with a B.A. in Government. While at Dartmouth, Elizabeth was part of the inaugural Great Issues Scholars cohort and a War and Peace Fellow. She participated in the Dartmouth-Oxford Exchange at Keble College and interned at the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. She also played water polo and was on the leadership team for Agape Christian Fellowship. All of these Dartmouth experiences, including the many classes she took at the Government Department, were foundational for her career as a lawyer today.

Alumni Update: Aleschia Hyde '12

September 25, 2021

Aleschia Hyde, an Atlanta native, graduated from Dartmouth in 2012 with a B.A. in Government (Honors). She wrote her Government thesis on the development of Afro-Latin socio-political movements. After graduation, she was a Teach For America corps member and middle school English teacher in Detroit, Michigan. While teaching she received her M.A. in Education at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Aleschia then pursued a M.A. in Social Science at the University of Chicago. Building on her thesis work at Dartmouth, Aleschia wrote her M.A.

Alumni Update: Alison B. Miller '10

September 25, 2021

Alison Miller graduated from Dartmouth in 2010 with a double major in Government and History and has since pursued a career in complex commercial litigation. Following Dartmouth, Alison attended law school at Georgetown. She then spent five years as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and a clerk on the Southern District of New York. In 2019, Alison joined Holwell Shuster & Goldberg LLP, a litigation boutique founded in 2012 by a former federal judge and his former law firm colleagues.

Alumni Update: Sheya Jabouin '15

September 25, 2021

I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2015 with a B.A. in Government and French. Prior to attending law school, I served as a paralegal at the Federal Trade Commission for the Bureau of Consumer Protection, and in the office of both Commissioner Terrell McSweeny and Commissioner Rohit Chopra. As a law student, I served as a research assistant to Professor Spencer Overton, working on issues related to voting rights and online misinformation. I also served as a student attorney for the Rising for Justice Clinic housed in the Landlord & Tenant Branch of the DC Superior Court.
