Alumni Update: Aleschia Hyde '12

Aleschia Hyde, an Atlanta native, graduated from Dartmouth in 2012 with a B.A. in Government (Honors).  She wrote her Government thesis on the development of Afro-Latin socio-political movements.  After graduation, she was a Teach For America corps member and middle school English teacher in Detroit, Michigan.  While teaching she received her M.A. in Education at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.  Aleschia then pursued a M.A. in Social Science at the University of Chicago.  Building on her thesis work at Dartmouth, Aleschia wrote her M.A. thesis on the intersection of race, constitutionalism, and citizenship in Colombia. Finally, she enrolled in Northwestern Pritzker Law School in Chicago, Illinois with the intention of marrying her interest in the law and scholarship. At Northwestern, Aleschia was a Law Scholar focusing on the effects of multicultural constitutionalism and its construction of citizenship on internally displaced Afro-Colombians.  Currently, Aleschia is a litigation associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago. The Government Department at Dartmouth ignited Aleschia's interest in law and politics. The Department and its faculty continue to be influential in her academic pursuits and professional development.  She is fortunate to maintain strong relationships with multiple Government professors to this day.
