Should universities aim at the moral formation of their students? Universities often present themselves as if instilling values and cultivating character were part of their mission, but is this something that we can reasonably expect or want them to do? Can honor codes be an effective means to teach the values upon which scholarly and scientific work depend, or are they a substitute for morality?
