I am in my sixth decade of research and teaching and still fascinated by the intersection of culture, politics, and personality. Recent publications include books on causation, reason, the rise and fall of political orders, the fragility and robustness of political orders, conflict resolution and management, taming Sino-American rivalry, Eastern and Western conceptions of justice, and the role of political theory in thinking about international relations. My first novel, Uninhibited Flying Object, is about to appear.
