I graduated from Dartmouth in 2016 with a BA in Government concentrated in political theory. Following graduation, I moved to D.C. to work in consulting at Booz Allen Hamilton where I supported Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in their mission to empower, educate, and assist Medicare-eligible individuals through objective outreach, counseling, and training. After my time at Booz Allen, I moved to a new role at Ipsos, a global insights leader, where I support Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) research on topics including patient experience, PTSD, and genomics. I'm thankful that I've found mission-driven organizations to work for throughout my career.
Dartmouth and the government department challenged me to critically think about the different avenues you can take to contribute to the success of communities, organizations, and teams. Whether it's a small group project or you're assessing federal budget allocation, there will be times when you will be the most educated person in the room, and there will be times when your new perspective will influence experts. Removing ego and concentrating on the group's ultimate success will, in turn, lead to more personal achievement. This approach has helped me contribute to change at some of the largest public organizations in the world and, more importantly, create genuine relationships, and I have Dartmouth to thank!
