Alumni Update: Alex Frye '17

Since graduating in 2017 I've lived in Washington, D.C. where I'm beginning my fourth year with DCI Group, a public affairs consulting firm specializing in strategic communications, media relations, and digital advocacy.

At DCI, I manage advocacy campaigns to overcome clients' legislative, regulatory, and communications challenges at the federal, state, and local levels of government. An experience I've particularly enjoyed was relocating out-of-state for three months to assist company leadership in managing a statewide ballot initiative campaign.

Rather than focusing on any particular subfield in my Government coursework, I found myself wanting to take courses that spanned the department. Similarly, I've come to appreciate working on many issues across various industries in my public affairs work. Writing skills are imperative in my job, and I have my Government professors to thank for helping me become a better writer.

I'm also grateful for the Rockefeller Center, which provided funding that made my internship in the Senate possible. Without that experience and introduction to D.C., I may not have been able to receive the mentorship and career insight that led me to my current field.
