  • Alumni Update: Matthew Mirliani '16

    Matthew Samuel Mirliani graduated from Dartmouth College in 2016 with a major in Government and a minor in History. His senior seminars for his Government major were focused on U.S. foreign policy. For his Culminating Experience, he wrote on the U.S. embassy in Tehran during the 1979 Iranian revolution; the paper analyzed excerpts from declassified embassy archives, contextualizing them within an existing conversation on the U.S.'s inability to understand the nuances of Iranian politics and society.

  • Alumni Update: Tara Maller '03

    Tara Maller was a Government major and she wrote a senior thesis focused on looking at the role of technology as a determinant of war outcomes. She took a lot of courses in both the American Politics and International Relations subfields. One course that stands out from her time at Dartmouth was her military analysis seminar for which she wrote a paper focused on urban warefare in Baghdad.

  • William Wohlforth on Russia's Ban of a U.S. College

    The government professor discusses the implications for higher education. This summer, Bard College was placed on Russia's list of "undesirable" organizations, severing the college's longstanding degree-granting partnership with St. Petersburg State University. Watch William Wohlforth, the Daniel Webster Professor of Government, discuss Russia's decision and its implications for higher education. "The deterioration of U.S.-Russian relations, if it continues, is going to render programs such as this very, very difficult," says Wohlforth.
