The Bosworth Award honors the legacy of Ambassador Stephen W. Bosworth '61 — diplomat, scholar, and global statesman — and is presented annually to students who have demonstrated excellence in their work at the Dickey Center.
This year, two of the four recipients are affiliated with the Government Department:
• McLaine Leik ‘27 is from Chicago, Illinois. She has been involved with the Dickey Center since her freshman year, serving as a Great Issues Scholar, War and Peace Fellow, and currently as a War and Peace Fellow Student Assistant. This past winter, she interned with the U.S. Commercial Service at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, and this summer she will join Eurasia Group in New York as a Client Relations intern with their Global Markets team. McLaine is also a member of the Varsity Field Hockey team and contributes to the Dartmouth Undergraduate Historical Review.
• Ben Joel ’27 is from McLean, Virginia. At the Dickey Center, Ben has served as a Great Issues Scholar, War and Peace Fellow, and Going Global intern, documenting Dickey Center interns across five countries. His photographic conservation work at the Solio Rhino Orphanage in Kenya was featured in an exhibit at the Russo Gallery. As president of the Alexander Hamilton Society, he collaborates with the Dickey Center and the Davidson Institute to co-host visiting dignitaries and scholars on campus. Ben is also a Freedman Presidential Scholar research assistant to Tuck Professor Charles Wheelan and has studied abroad in both Argentina and at the London School of Economics.
